Hey @cclarkson, just to mention I raised this upstream on the jupyterbook repo - https://github.com/executablebooks/jupyter-book/issues/1475 - looks like there is work underway to add support for the package versions needed for compatibility with voila, so shouldn't be too far off.

In the mean time, I'm going to remove jupyter-book from this environment again. I think it would be better than leaving it in a probably broken state. (I can always create a separate, dedicated environment for jupyter book on datalab, we don't need it all together in the same environment.)
