Eject Works Once #37

Open loozrrtuba opened 8 years ago

I recently installed the version 3 beta, never before using the app. I primarily wanted it to control volume from my non-media keyed keyboard. Works great. Thank you

I have a hotkey set up for eject the disc/DVD Drive (E: drive; "Ctrl+`" hotkey). However, the eject only seems to work ONCE and then stops working. Volumes work continuously, but eject works once and then I have to reboot the COMPUTER, not just the app to get it work again - once. I really would like this functionality as my notebook does not have any sort of eject key on the keyboard and the hard button is cumbersome to push in correctly.

Am I missing something, or is this an issue? I did not see anything here on Github regarding this as a known issue. Is this only the beat V3 and it is not in V2?

I'm working with windows 8.1 on an HP Pavilion Notebook.

Thanks again!

Really weird! A few things to try:

Hopefully with a little more testing we can get this figured out. I'll see if I can find a machine with similar hardware that I can test on.

Matt,

I've played with it, so for the sake of troubleshooting here goes:

Hope this helps debug!!!

PS - I would be happy to somehow send you my system specs, if there is some sort of log file that would help you out.

PPS - I hope you get this resolved. I love the app, and REALLY like the ability with the Beta to change the AMOUNT of volume control with each keypress (percentages FTW!)

Awesome, this really helps narrow things down. If I can't fix the bug in the current method for ejecting drives, I can always go back to the old method.

One more question for you: do you have a USB hard disk you could try ejecting with 3RVX? I just want to determine if the same problem occurs with USB media as well or is just limited to CD/DVD drives.

Thanks for your help figuring this out!

Hey loozrrtuba, I have built a pre-release beta that might help with this:

http://3rvx.com/releases/3RVX-2.9.2-pre1.zip

This release follows the same procedure that the File Explorer does when ejecting disks, but it isn't the same as the old v2 routine -- let me know if this helps at all, and if not, we'll go back to the old method.

Thanks so much for you help on this.

Hey Matt, Happy to help, except the new file won't run. I've tried the executable you sent me both "regular" and as an admin. I uninstalled old version 2.5.... all to no avail, this will just not run. It gets hung up after Windows warns me its from an untrusted source. I'll choose run anyway and it just stops. Nada, nothing. the computer doesn't crash, the executable just stops and does nothing. I have no

Ideas? Sorry man.

Hmm, did you replace the exe from v2.5 or 2.9.1? The version I posted will only work with a 2.9.1 install (I'm realizing I've created a giant mess of version numbers...)

If it was 2.9.1, let me know, I have a new version that actually reports error messages rather than just crashing.

I realized that I messed up packaging that last prerelease... Would you mind trying this one out? Sorry for taking so long on this! :-(

Hey Matt,

I re-installed 2.9.1 and then replaced the files you sent me (2.9.2). It works flawlessly. I was able to eject the drive, insert a new disc and eject the drive again, all just fine. It even ejects the drive while the disc was still playing.

I did only attempt this with a CD, and have yet to try it with any other media type, but somehow I doubt that will be any issue.

Thanks for your efforts! All seems well!

Awesome, thanks for testing this out! I'll get these changes incorporated in the next release.
