It's weird that 1 doesn't work but 2 does. Gahaha 1 and 2 share the same exact input code and worked from my testing. Are you absolutely sure you're not configuring it incorrectly in some way that you didn't for Gahaha 2? Maybe you could copy/paste your cfg/gahaha2.cfg to cfg/gahaha.cfg and open the new cfg/gahaha.cfg in Notepad to change the system tag from "gahaha2" to "gahaha". Just to be absolutely sure.
I'll try getting out my gamepad later to test it out on my end though.

I have done this and is also not working.
I tested using the gamepad I have on hand, an 8bitdo Pro 2 set to Xinput mode on Windows 11 using the latest MAME 0.255 build from mamedev.org. Controls in gahaha are working fine for me. I tried using the provided .ini as well and no difference.
Some other ideas you could try off the top of my head:
- Clear your nvram/gahaha folder and try from a fresh run
It fixed my issue, thank for help.

Control on the sticks does not work, reassigning in the management settings is useless for the system.
