Back out all sidechannel communication over the HTTP headers #5

There's lots of HTTP header manipulation going on between client and component. None of this follows the protocol specification. Remove it, and find protocol-conformant ways to achieve the same goals (if they are indeed necessary)

Probably fixed by 09ab59db2c05d50b432dc9f5f70712577462b6b7, need to check.

HTTP goes away in the websockets branch; since websockets is the future, this point is moot.
