Trying to access individual cell data...

I'm trying to connect to a MySQL database, for an inventory program.  I've 
tried each of the examples, and am able to connect to the database and get the 
data; but, I can't seem to figure out how to access the individual cell data.

I'm trying to query the database and see if a specific item exists;
If that item exists, I'd like to grad the data into variables, and or text 
fields, for editing;
If the item does not exist, I'd like to reflect that and allow the user to 
create the data;
At the end, they would be able to return the altered/entered data back to the 
database as an update.  

I just can't seem to figure out how to get to the data, other than in a 
DataGrid, as in the examples.  Sorry if this is a super easy issue, I'm still 
learning Air/Flex.
