Firstly, this is Awesome!
But it should probably be mentioned that this is licensed under the GPL (in the README).
Considering the wording, it looks like this is in the public domain ("it is all up to you").
The GPL will force everyone to include the full license and copyright info.
Of course it may be wanted that everyone contributes back to the repository when changing the files, but it should be made clear that this is indeed so..
It looks like you might want to use a MIT license, release all to the public domain, or use a Creative Commons one. This should be no problem, as you can claim the copyright to all stuff in there.
We really need something like this, and I would recommend including the Mendeleev.io element JSON files, which we scraped from Wikipedia.
You could then discontinue Mendeleev.io, and view this as the successor?
