Unable to view HD trailers using Firefox 4.0 #133

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install openSUSE 11.4 for x86_64 to 11.4. This comes with Firefox 4.0.
Install gecko-mediaplayer-1.0.0-1.pm.1.1.x86_64 and
gnome-mplayer-1.0.2-1.pm.1.1.x86_64 from packman repository.
2. Go to trailers.apple.com and attempt to view any trailer.
3. No joy.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Same behaviour as in Firefox 3.6.16 - HD trailers are displayed.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

Known issue, patch in SVN is being worked on. It should make it work, but has
not been fully debugged. This has been in discussion on the mailing list for a
couple of months.

Note that you will need to have development packages for libcurl installed for
apple trailers to work when building gecko-mediaplayer.

The problem is that Firefox changed the way the user agent is set, without a
clear upgrade path. Additionally, apple will only server media content to
clients with user agent of QuickTime. Therefore, we need to use libcurl to
emulate quicktime by passing QuickTime as a user agent.

Recommend that you also upgrade gnome-mplayer to svn if you upgrade
gecko-mediaplayer.

Is there any way I can help with debugging the patch or capturing logs? Do I
just get gecko-mediaplayer and gnome-mplayer from svn and configure/make/make
install them?

Yup, that would be the way to test it out.

Any idea when this will show up in Packman?
Can we see this in April?
