new app grouping #15

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

im not sure if this should be filed under bug or feature request, but i have
several groups set up in my app drawer, and whenever a new app is installed, it
automatically shows up in all those groups. consequently, i have to go through
my groups and remove said app from those particular groups. this shouldn't
happen by default in my opinion, and at the very least should be toggleable via
ADW drawer options page.

I agree, the default behavior should be that newly installed apps are
uncategorized and should only appear in the unfiltered apps list.

The best option, in my opinion, could be to have a new built-in group for newly
installed apps, perhaps apps that have been installed since the last time the
category/group list was modified.

I meant to add that, given a recently installed apps list, the user could
filter apps to that group, then re-organize them. However, that thought
process is how AppsOrganizer works; everything newly installed appears in the
'other' label. Once viewing that label, you can long-press and change labels.
Obviously, ADW Launcher doesn't behave this way.

Perhaps there is another way to allow the user to change which groups an app
belongs to? How about a more centralized interface to organize groups/apps
(again, similar to AppsOrganizer)?

How about a new, default 'Uncategorized' group:

Newly installed apps are defaulted to the new, Uncategorized apps group. As
well, apps removed from all other groups end up here. This puts all your
unsorted apps together. That may not be super exciting, but maybe if you
change the long-press function on an app (within the app drawer) to give a list
of options, such as... hmm wtf was I gonna say?

Oh yeah, BLAM! issue 216
