Feature Request: Selective Icon Text Hiding #5

I was wondering if it was possible to further customize how hiding icon text
works. I love how clean everything looks when the titles are hidden but it
sometimes makes it difficult to determine what some shortcuts are. Some
examples would be: webpage links on the homescreen, shortcuts to control panel
dialogs, folders and music playlists. Is there anyway we could hide titles for
apps but not the other stuff? Thanks for such a great piece of software thus
far!

Isn't it the same than using the new "Custom shortcut" tool just leaving the
label empty?

From what I gather, it is a similar feature that I was going to request and the
custom shortcuts wouldn't work.
For example, I have my labels hidden by default but because the folders have
the same icon I want labels for them.

So I would like an option that is like "Hide labels except on folders".

Exactly what will.moggridge said.
I would really appreciate the option to keep the labels on folders.
