There is a first run script, which sets the password on first boot. Maybe that failed on your end.

Hi, I downloaded the latest stable image of Phosh and installed it to eMMC via Jumpdrive.
Upon booting the Pinephone afterwards it boots normally into Manjaro Phosh, however it leads to a prompt for a passcode, which has not been set yet. Additionally, the time zone has not been set yet, however Phosh defaults to the 25th of October at 13:07 (for reference I am in the US Central Time zone where it is 19:09 as of writing).
