Use the SHA1 checksum shown to verify file integrity after an automatic update #154

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run an older version of EC
2. Perform the update when prompted
3. Observe the process

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The downloaded file integrity should be verified with the provided SHA1
checksum from the download page.

Are you working on this netprobe? I could do this.

I was going to but it's hard to carve out a consistent chunk of time to code
recently.
If you are willing to take on the task then I'm more than willing to pass it on
to you as I see it as important.
By the way, a visual progress of the checksum would be nice and maybe
consolidating the 'Checking for updates' window and the update progress window.
For a nice auto updater example see sc2gears
(http://sites.google.com/site/sc2gears/).

Reassigning now :)

I don't want to steal anything from you, I just wasn't sure if you were working
on it. :) You made yourself the Owner of this issue, but I wasn't sure if that
meant you were working on it or that you were just keeping an eye on it. But
I'd love to do it if you don't have the time.

Calculating the checksum takes only a split second, so we wouldn't need a
progress bar for it. But yeah, I did notice that the window that shows the
download progress isn't sent to the foreground. I'll make that another issue
for that.

You're not stealing the task! Think of It as freeing resources :D I wouldn't
have time to even start it before the weekend so I'm really pleased that you
came forward with the proposition :)
By the way. Big kudos for coding up the first unit tests for the project!
