Observations so far:
• Both Max and Steve have typically run the live data with a background subtraction enabled, whereas Becky hasn't. This may be a coincidence but might also point to this extra step causing some of the crashing issue given that Becky has found this to be relatively stable. Steve also mentioned that the average pixel subtraction method seemed to be less stable. • There are occasional issues with the live data plotting where the plot gets into an error state, stops refreshing and if you try to do anything to change any settings in the plot the error sad bug pops up but enables you to keep working. Closing this plot and starting a new one then works fine. This hasn't been seen consistently enough to identify the steps to reproduce. • Offspec has had quite regular crashes (generally overnight) where the whole Mantid session crashes with the sad bug window and can’t continue. During this time live data has been running but it's not clear if that is the cause.

20/02/2024 - reports of regular crashes on OFFSPEC when using live data with the Nightly (version 6.9 beta). I have been able to replicate this on OFFSPEC only. It needs further investigation. The level of instability is believed to have increased compared to version 6.8. So far I have only seen it when running live data from the NR GUI, with or without a plot open on the IvsQ_binned
workspace.
I believe the RAM filling up issue has been resolved by #36461.

Describe the bug Error report description, from 26/03/2023 at 10:31am: "While using NR GUI (autoprocessing and live data), RAM filled up leading to crash. This happens regularly."
