Maintainer Help #150

Hi,

I was digging through everything, and I mean everything, and I noticed a few things. The v1.1 spec was announced in August of 2020. Going through the projects on the Code page, almost none of them support the new spec. There's a lot of reason for that but I think starting with this upstream project would help. There's an open issue to update the validator to support v1.1. The JSON feed for the website itself is still producing a v1 feed.

It looks like there's opportunity here for for additional maintainers to help share this load. Is this something that can happen soon? While I don't have a history with this project as of now, I'd like to volunteer. You can check my GitHub profile for what I'm affiliated with and the type of work I do. If there's already people on the shortlist to be maintainers, that's even better.

I definitely think an additional maintainer or two is needed in order to help this project grow. I think JSON Feed is great but not enough people know about it and not enough applications support it. A coordinated community effort needs to happen in order for this to change.

Regardless, nice to see the spec update this year! and thank you for the years of work put into this thus far. 😃 👍🏼

Thanks @felicianotech! You're right, aside from updating the 1.1 spec, we've let a few other things sit for too long without an update. Really appreciate you taking a look and I'm hoping to make more time for it too, starting with updating the validator for 1.1.

@manton I'd like to second @felicianotech's suggestion. How can we ease the load for you, in terms of those pull requests? For example, would a summary of effective changes be helpful?

I'm happy to help as well.
