program fails to start #1

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. open program
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
unable to use program, endless "No active document" error windows.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.x? the windows-only version. windows 7, up-to-date

use XP compatibility mode (right click on the exe, properties)
