Create submission guidelines for creating screenshots #7

Creating a nice screenshot takes a bit of artistic touch. How to crop it, what to include in the shot, and the "composition" of the shot are all things that can't necessarily be quantified.

For the short term, I can do all of the screenshots for papers submitted to the catalog. But we should come up with a more robust, longer-term solution.

Creating this issue to remind me to come up with a list of guidelines for how to create a screenshot that is both nice looking, and also consistent with the rest of the screenshots in the catalog.

Great idea. Could probably go in the README here?

I agree that users submitting their own screenshots is there preferred solution! We could even have CI perform some scripted checks on the image.

Yeah I think it would go as a Making your screenshot sub-section under Contributing.

I think the only checks that could be automated are that it's a png and that it's 1000x1000.

Screenshot Guidelines

Follow these guidelines when creating your screenshot to help us maintain a beautiful, consistent, and streamlined catalog. They are listed roughly in order of most strict to least strict.

If in doubt, look at the other thumbnails in the catalog and model your screenshot off of those.
