First, redshiftgui is a stand alone package, so you shouldn't need redshift.
Second, what distro are you using? I've only tested on ubuntu and arch, not sure about other distros.
Please confirm fixed in this release: https://github.com/maoserr/redshiftgui/releases/tag/0.2.4-Arch64
+1 issue present in 0.2.1. issue resolved in 0.2.4.
