Pink Map Issue

Environment

• Xcode version:
• iOS version: 15.5
• Devices affected: iPhone 13
• Maps SDK Version: 10.5

Observed behavior and steps to reproduce

As soon as user opens the app, we will show a map with Mapbox layers and UIViews added on top. In some rare occasions, some users have reported seeing the map having a pink background (See screenshot below). Users were able to resolve this problem (see normal map again) by either navigating to other screens and come back in the same app instance or by killing the app and reopen it. For those users that were affected, they could only see this issue once.

@jimmy0804, this behavior should be addressed in 10.6. Can you please update and confirm whether or not you or your users are still seeing this pink background issue?

@jimmy0804 My apologies, it looks like this behavior should be fixed in 10.7.0-beta.1. If you would like to wait for a more stable version, we should be releasing 10.7.0-rc.1 by the end of next week.

Hi @ZiZasaurus, just some update. We have updated to version 10.7 just recently and have not seen the mentioned pink map issue so far. We will keep testing and see if that happens again. Thanks.

Hi @ZiZasaurus, how are you doing? It's been a while. We are still currently in 10.7.0 and more users are seeing this pink map issue. I know the latest release version of mapbox SDK is 10.10.1. Could we confirm from which version that the pink map issue has been fixed? Thanks

This issue should be addressed in v10.7.0 (specifically due to this change). If you are still seeing this issue, can you share reproduction details so that we can investigate it?

Hi @pjleonard37, unfortunately, we are still seeing this issue even after we have updated to use version v10.7.0. There were increasing amount of users complaining about seeing their map being pink.. There is no known ways for us to reproduce this issue so far as this issue happens randomly according to our users feedback. I personally have not seen this issue happening to my device.

Some users complained seeing this pink map issue consistently and others complained seeing it once or twice and then gone. Though, most users seem to only see this problem when they land on the first screen of the app after cold/hot app start the app. Not sure if that might help with investigation....

Hi @jimmy0804 The latest "pink issue" fix landed in v10.10.0 (PR https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-maps-ios/pull/1675). We heard no "pink" reports afterwards (yet?). Can you please adopt the latest version? /cc @evil159

Hi @OdNairy, thanks for the update. We will update to use v10.10.x as soon as possible. However, we will not be able to update to v10.10.x until the fix in this PR raised by our team is merged. Would it be possible to have someone to review that PR and have it merged to unblock us from upgrading to v10.10.x? Thanks.

Hi. Im not sure if its the same issue but since i havent find any info on this problem, ill try my luck here. I have imported the Mapbox, opened the Location-based-game example and see the pink plane and pink player. Does anyone have an idea what im doing wrong? In general i didnt even do anything different than in the tutorial i was following. Access token is submitted. Unity version 2022.3.18f1. Mapbox v2.1.1. MacOS
