Yes, this change would result in some minor confusion but would remove future confusion for various people.
As datapoint: I am really involved in OSM and I was completely confused by mbx
code. I expect the same true for nearly everyone not employed by Mapbox (and also some Mapbox employees).
@matkoniecz There's no any problems with tracking our hashtags by using OSM Wiki and it kind of easy thing to do (example)
I am not claiming that it is impossible to link Mapbox with mbx
I am claiming that it is cryptic without a good reason. It is a little better than using say #smiling_blueberry
and putting on OSM Wiki info about actual link.
Using #mapbox
would actually allow to understand what is happening without need for research.
We'll use such kind of #mapbox... for new projects in future, all already existing will still the same, because changing this will lead to a lot of confusion.
Thanks! Are there any project running indefinitely where such change would never happen?

An
mbx
is rather about motorcycle than about Mapbox ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBX ).People are not going to be able to connect
#mbx_uk_editing
with Mapbox company.Such codes are cryptic without a good reason, there is no need for that.
It just obscures meaning without a good reason.
