Starts building with -Werror

This PR adds -Werror to the default flags so that builds fail on travis that introduce new and unexpected warnings. It also:

• Fixes several warnings that were present
• Starts building in both Release and Debug mode per job (for more coverage)
• Adds a few more warning flags
