Installation of MapBook on Windows 7, 64-bit - HELP! #76

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Running ArcGIS 9.3.1 on Windows 7, 64-bit
2. I tried to install Mapbook every way possible I can't get it to install.
3. I'm using the Mapbook_for_9.3_2009.February.11 (most recent) version,
which says it is updated for 64-bit.

If there is a known way to get it to work, I would appreciate all help.
Thanks!

I tried the following steps also, and nothing :-(

Manual Registration Procedure
in case the above doesn't work
Run the Categories.exe exectutable in you ArcGIS bin directory.
Scroll down to ESRI Mx Extensions and select that category.
Click on the Add Object ... button and browse for DSMapBookUIPrj.dll
When the Add Object dialog comes up, uncheck everything and then click on just
DSMapBookExt and click OK.
While still in the Component Category Manager, scroll up to ESRI Contents Views
and
select that category.
Click on the Add Object ... button and again browse for DSMapBookUIPrj.dll
Uncheck all the classes, then click on just DSMapBookTab and click OK

To give additional info, after I add those objects to the ESRI Mx Extension and
ESRI
Contents Views, the is a comment that says No registered file can be found that
implements this class.""

I've not come across that error yet and have no suggestions at this time. As
far as I
recall yours is the first report of a W7 attempted install. As more people try
it we
might get closer to a solution.

I still can't get it to run in W7.
What I did manage is to add the toolbar and tab for Mapbook, but they are not
active
and I get two error messages when arcgis starts. see the attached .docx file
with
images of the error messages.

The can't create ActiveX object error lead me to wonder if this is permissions
related, but beyond that I can't offer any help. Perhaps someone else with Win7
will
be able to chime in.

I have been unable to get this to run in W7 64 bit as well. I have attempted
the
workarounds listed on the Vista install with no luck. I cannot get the tab to
show up
either.

When I attempt to add the new toolbar via the customize menu I get the
following
message: "No New Objects Added".

I should have post when it finally worked.
Look at maphew's post of Brian DeVries notes:
http://code.google.com/p/arcmapbook/wiki/InstallOnVista

It works, I had tried it but was not successful first, but the reasons were I
had to
have my IT give me full permissions to my computer and I followed verbatim
Brian's
comments and it finally worked.

Remember:
- The the latest install files
- Run the command prompt as an administrator (ie right click - then run as
administrator)

Good Luck!

Once it worked, some of my old previously created mxd's with mapbook series
would
give me error messages, but when I re-created those mapbook series from
scratch, they
don't give any errors.
