Consider switching to 1st ed 6inch scotland layer for workshops #445

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Sometimes we get blocked when downloading maps from maptiler due to too many requests from the same IP. If we use a tile layer from the NLS (not via maptiler) this should avoid this issue.

Describe the solution you'd like We should consider using NLS hosted tilelayers for the workshops. e.g. the 1st edition 6 inch scotland layer. This should approx work with the 2nd ed model and so can be switched over quite easily.

@rwood-97 What would this entail? Rewriting the worked examples, or setting up new notebooks altogether?

Can you remind me where I can find the workshop notebooks?

Currently we use 2nd ed 6inch maps but for glasgow area so should be relatively easy to switch to 1st edition.

We'd just need to:

Notebooks are in worked_examples/geospatial/workshops_xxxxx

The notebooks I have are all set to download from the same place (https://geo.nls.uk/maps/os/1inch_2nd_ed/{z}/{x}/{y}.png).. Is there an example of a notebook where we download from the 2nd ed 6inch maps?

I think the 2024 ones will be the 6inch 2nd ed. The download url will contain "maptiler" if you want to search
