Create "Start your own Maptime" page!

What should this page include?

It should include administrative tasks that need to happen for every organizer:

• Get an account on the maptime.io Wordpress (contact @almccon or @bethschechter for this) THEN CHANGE YOUR DEFAULT PASSWORD
• Get your github account added to the maptime group (@almccon can do this)
• Get your email address added to maptime-organizers@googlegroups.com (@almccon can do this)
• Get an account on maptime.slack.com (@almccon or @bethschechter can do this)

Then tasks that the new organizer can do themselves:

• Create a twitter account! @MaptimeYourCity
• Add yourself to the chapters page on the Wordpress blog: http://maptime.io/chapters
• Create a page for your new Maptime group on the blog: http://maptime.io/YourCityHere
• Create a hello world blog post on maptime.io!
• Send an email to the maptime-organizers list introducing yourself.
• (optional) Get set up on IRC [See Alan's forthcoming tutorial]
• (optional) Set up a meetup.com site. [See if you can get someone to sponsor the registration fee]
• (optional) Set up a mailing list for your local maptime.

@almccon yup, like I mentioned in chat - @tristen is making the template if a chapter wants to host their site on maptime gh account. There's good material that can go in there as a README.md and CONTRIBUTING.md.

Just cloned the starter repo and everything is working great. I think we should keep on this trajectory and focus efforts of getting new admins onboard to use this if they feel comfortable. @bethschechter @almccon check the issues in that repo...see how we can improve/grow it by focussing on that repo's Readme.

As our website plans have evolved, it seems like we've decided that local chapters have two options for their web presence. Thanks @xpat for taking these notes at WhereCampPDX:

Two options for new Maptime groups.

1. Sub-directory of the http://maptime.github.io website.

Ex. http://maptime.github.io/nullisland -> https://github.com/maptime/maptime.github.io/tree/master/nullisland

1. Own repository either within the maptime group or within their own Github group. That repository would have a cname specifying what its own url is relative to Maptime.io.

Ex. http://maptime.github.io/toronto -> https://github.com/maptime/toronto or http://maptime.github.io/pdx -> https://github.com/maptimepdx/maptimepdx.github.io

Q. If both exist, which would win out?
