10 years ago This sounds great, especially the idea of field trips. However, I wonder about whether having regular lectures drifts too much onto the turf that the SF Geomeetup is already doing well? 1) How do we differentiate ourselves? 2) How do we avoid duplicating effort?
It makes sense to me that MaptimePDX (for example) has more lectures than MaptimeSF has, because there is no equivalent of Geomeetup in PDX that I'm aware of.

10 years ago Hrm. Good point. In keeping with the Maptime Mission, maybe a better way to think of lectures is as long-form tutorials around the technology of the host, or project share nights (more similar to the d3 meetups). Maybe keeping it to a lecture series is too limiting, but maybe start think about a once a month Maptime with a Twist.

10 years ago @almccon There are geo meetups in pdx but they're heavy on the kool aid if you know what I mean.

Camille, I want the next Tilemill lesson to be at Mapbox when Will is in town. Can you help me coordinate that? It would be the first field trip for SF :)

I would like to suggest a monthly lecture series that migrates around SF. Craigslist? Mapbox? Three weeks a month on curriculum/hack nights, one week a month on lecture/social? This could include a field trip to a map library?
