+1 for the header photo on custom styles, but I think the size of the tangram play embeds are problematic, can we do a map preview pane and then the code bank underneath? We can add a link to say "open in play" underneath.

Yep, I agree that they're a bit cramped in the current layout, but unfortunately the Play embeds don't allow moving the code panel. I think this is the best they can do until the docs layout is changed.

I've seen suggestions about making the embeds pop out to 100% when they load, but I can't think of a way to work around the floating sidebar… I'm open to other ideas though!
