This PR looks much more massive than it actually is.

Relevant changes.

I moved all type-related tests into a dedicated new file types_test.go. Thus, the many lines changed.
I added a test to scan all types, as I noticed that some of them were missing in the existing tests.
I added a small benchmark to detect regressions in the scanner.
