How frequently is each quarter referenced in the beginning of the transcript? Is there a better way to extract fiscal quarter and year from the data?
What about word use across time?
Do all the companies exist for the entire span of the data?
Look at most commonly used bigrams and trigrams to get a sense of business-speak.
Can we get marketing spend along with other outcomes?
Problem with EPS given the denominator is an arbitrary number of shares. Scale EPS using another factor such as firm-specific stock price (e.g., EPS divided by price per share).
Consider the forecast error in addition to surprise (i.e., the absolute difference of earnings per share and the median of expected earnings per share).
Stock price-to-earnings ratio is the apples-to-apples comparison. Consider return on assets or stock returns instead.
