If there is not a configuration for a custom creative tab the game will crash, at less 1 configuration file must contain the custom creative tab. Trying to modify the creative tab option in the default custonitems config but it did nothing to prevent the crash, unless that was for something else. A current work around is to have a custom creative tab just in the configuration.
