avoid use of thiz #104

thiz looks too much like a typo of this. Thoughts on using self instead? I believe this is more common for the intended use case.

This would be well-advised, this also left me with a double-take while trying to hunt down bugs

Self is preferred, it's more close to home for non-js developers.
