Mailing results #33

The other part of the mailing pair with #32 This will be mailing the final results to the org & the users. I'll try my hand at it, but feel free to look around.

The biggest problem with this has been figuring out a way to only mail results to users if they voted. I'm completely stumped.

Do we need to only mail to the people who voted? I would just send the results, and t.s. if you didn't vote.

And yes, we only need to mail the people who voted. Mailing the results to people who were not interested in the poll at all is just spam.

Sorry, t.s. is tough shit. As in too bad, you're getting an email even if you didn't vote. Some people might be interested in the outcome, even if they don't vote.

I don't think an email on invite and an email on close is that excessive. We're relying on the organizer to have keyed in the correct address. And thinking of meetup.com or evite, I think you get notices even if you don't rsvp. I would split the vote only if voted as a separate enhancement and come back to it if there's time. Same with some mechanism for opt-out/unsubscribe or you sent to the wrong address.

And I don't know about you, but I filter those type of messages sent by sites like meetup and send them straight to the spam folder.

Then split it off as a separate issue. Two emails directly sent to you based on someone else isn't spam, it's at worst an annoying chain letter, it's bacon. You're not opting into an unending stream of emails.

Closing as appears to be working. Re-open if broken.
