Hi, I'm following your updates about improving xps experience on ubuntu. May I ask you If you can upload the dell recovery image that is shipped with xps 9370? Unfortunately the link on dell website is broken and noone cares about fixing it.

Thanx in advance, Claudio

Hello Claudio,

sadly I don't have the backup of the factory SSD anymore. I switched the SSD just as it arrived and sold the factory SSD.

For me the download link of the factory ISO from Dell is also broken and I sadly can't help you with that.

As I once called Dell about the factory image they told me I just should use the default Ubuntu ISO.

You could try to download an ISO image for another Dell laptop or just stick with default Ubuntu. In theory it shouldn't make a difference (functionality wise).

Best Marco

Dear Marco, thanks in advance for your fruitful suggestion. I'll use a normal iso and I'll keep pushing dell forum :P

All the best, Claudio

I wish you very luck with that.

Dell does not really seem to have a look at their forums. There is a long ongoing bluetooth issue with this device (adapter is completely disappearing under Ubuntu 18.04 after suspending): https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-Developer-Systems/XPS-13-9370-no-bluetooth-after-suspend/m-p/6093949

Do you have a specific problem or do you just want to reinstall?

Perhaps you can tell me if bluetooth works reliably under 16.04 :)

My dell xps13 was bought by my actual company 2 months ago, and unfortunately I need to mantain it with the factory image (at least for the year that is covered by the warranty here in Italy..). Unfortunately, after just one week the ssd resulted to be broken...and they sent me another one with w10... Really I don't like ubuntu too much...I prefer archlinux with its aur repository for my work (I'm a bioinformatician). I can confirm that even 16.04 has problems with bluetooth which unavailable after waking up from suspension (and can still remain deactivated and invisible after a warm reboot). I think that xps13 is still under development, since I am not the only one having multiple problems with this machine.. Keep in touch, I would like to share my xps experience with other ubuntu users.

Thank you for this detailed response!

In terms of the BT issue someone communicated this issue with Qualcomm (https://bugs.launchpad.net/dell-sputnik/+bug/1766825) because of a possible firmware issue. Let's hope this get resolved soon.

When I see someone with this machine I'll ask if I can make a quick dd dump of their storage :+1: :-D
