add fallback to freeSpaceBytesState to prevent hard crash
set reverse proxy if port is '' - MDN - it would previously default to port 0
don't gitignore package-lock.json - npm docs

This file is intended to be committed into source repositories, and serves various purposes:
set frontend package to private to prevent publishing npm docs
