Monstercat Visualizer causes Rainmeter to freeze. No known system changes between the last successful use of Rainmeter with Monstercat Visualizer and this morning, when the issue presented itself. I am experiencing an issue with Nahimic at the moment, but that's been present since the last windows update and I haven't had any issues with rainmeter until this morning.
Steps:
Boot system, notice that RAM usage is high enough to prevent all kinds of things from running, manage to get into task manager and see that the issue is Rainmeter. Kill rainmeter and back up all running plugins and skins, cleanly uninstall & remove Rainmeter, reinstall and add plugins one at a time until issue is found. Test by removing skins one at a time until Rainmeter hangs again, find that the issue is Monstercat.
Remove Monstercat entirely, reinstall, and issue is still present. Enable debug mode & logging, try again, and here we are.
Versions
Rainmeter 4.3.1, clean reinstall
Monstercat 2.1.0, clean reinstall
Spotify 1.1.18.611.g9cc9bdc9
Windows 10 Pro, OS build 18362.418, version 1903
Additional notes/images
Removing Monstercat Visualizer allows Rainmeter to function normally, though I'm not happy with that non-solution. I see several plugin errors in the log, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.
Update: This was caused by windows security settings changing itself. Anyone that has the issues I described, check that controlled folder access is OFF in windows security.
