PS1 Two Handle Controller compatibility #17

Thanks for your work on this project, I want to get this adapter so I can plug in my 2-handle PS1 controller:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSTENT-Controller-Adapter-Converter-Compatible/dp/B00FBM3JEG

I'm wondering if this would work with any ps1 / ps2 emulators? Or would it be a better idea to source the PC versions of DDG 1 & 2, and then use the autotrainas tool?

Thanks!

Hello,

From the product description, that one specifically will give issues due to the adapter itself. The Densha controllers for the PS1 are like a digital gamepad (SCPH-1010), which is listed as not compatible (among dance pads and others). You will need to find one which supports digital gamepads.

Regarding emulators, I have not done much research, but the emulator itself has to support PS1 digital controllers to map the physical buttons 1:1 and allow pressing opposite D-pad buttons simultaneously. You may need to do some trial and error. If it doesn't work, the PC versions may be a better option, and you can always test that the controller can be mapped correctly in autotraintas before getting the game.

I'll open a couple of issues to remind myself of adding new sections to the documentation regarding adapter requirements and emulator support.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for your response, unfortunately you are correct. That adapter doesn't work!

I will stick to playing the first 2 games on an original Playstation 1 for the time being!
