Go install variant doesn't include ldflags #10

Weird considering it was working fine just before.

Disabled updates where version is dev to work around this for now in v2.0.1

From memory, Go 1.17 will be including the ability to get the commit sha via the stdlib so that would actually solve this nicely. In effect, is there a release with a newer sha than the present version. Well, I suppose it would just be a "different" sha
