Pretty sure I git stashed at one point and forgot to put the checks back into the routes

Accidentally pushed it to master (oops) but it works now. If Pingdom is right, properly using production mode as mentioned in #27 has made the site 50% faster (from 2 seconds to under 1 when querying from Australia)
