๐ฅ Drilling into programs on the Mu computer via Kartik Agaram
As a follow-up to Drilling into programs on the Mu computer, here's a screenshot of my ๐ท Lisp-like HLL for the Mu computer showing how it computed a function call
I've also been spending some time laying out the vocabulary I use to build programs like these: akkartik/mu/vocabulary.md
๐ BetaDen Cohort 3.0 WhiteBox Showcase via Andrew Reece
I'm just finishing up a tech accelerator programme at BetaDen with my tool WhiteBox, which is something like a real-time debugger/execution preview for C & C++, inspired in large part by Bret Victor's Inventing on Principle & Glen Chiacchieri's REPLugger.
There's a final video showcase coming up on the 18th, which is somewhere between a pitch & presentation from each member in the cohort. You're welcome to watch it yourself, and I'd really appreciate it if you could link it to any contacts you have with:
(P.S. If you want to get/give a better idea of what WhiteBox is, you can see a demo I gave to a programming conference here: whitebox-systems)
๐ miniKanren via Nick Smith
I feel like I've been long deceived by the traditional definition of a mathematical relation as "a set of tuples". This is the definition used in "relational languages" like SQL and Prolog, but in the context of programming, it seems much more intuitive for relations to be defined by formulas (e.g. y = x + 1
or x + y < z
), where the fundamental units of data are variables, not tuples.

are there some "benchmark" apps for end user programming? I listed two benchmark apps here End user programming, some benchmark apps they are in the category of "productivity apps", if we have a system where these apps can be easily expressed & constructed, it will be very nice.

๐ฆ Statebox
Just discovered recently the statebox.org/ project, a visual programming platform based on a refreshing mix of CS ideas ranging from Petri nets to dependent types. It is all articulated around a rigorous category-theoretic foundations, so as to "maximize compositionality".
There is also a Statebox: A Universal Language of Distributed Systems on The Azimuth Project's blog describing the genesis, philosophy, and influences of the project. I think it quite matches the "welcoming, cooperative, and revolutionary spirit" of the FoC community!

Is anyone here experienced with DCI? I have always found it intriguing but I haven't spend enough time understanding it or building a prototype. I just saw Object Orientation Revisited and he mentions the book clean-ruby.com, has anyone read it?
