Highlighter fields layering #204

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

Some templates have fields sitting on top of each other. Maybe a image
field for the background and a text field on top of that.

Right now, the highlighter only allows the image field to be selected if it
covers a text field entirely. No way to select the text fields.

Ex.
http://www.zetaprints.com/mageimage/index.php/customized-for-testing/2010-calend
ar-daily-tasks.html

The "background image" for the calendar month is sitting under all other
objects in the template file. The text fields under each date are on top of
it (object_order.png)
When I hover the mouse on top of the preview, I'm only allowed to select
the background (month) image.
The highlighter should focus on the background image only at the parts
which are not covered with another input field.

We will always have a situation where shapes overlap. They can be of the same
size and still overlap, so the order makes no difference.

Let's deal with it on magento end by giving the user a choice what field to
work with.

Not quite sure how to do it.
Maybe pop a selector with a list of fields and only then show the actual field
control.

Can we have a mock-up, please?

On mouse hovering over 2 or more overlapping fields, users see a list of fields
they are hovering above. Text and image fields have different icons.

I've attached 3 mockups. Lets go with D3-2.png until we decide otherwise.
Sprites attached.
