"Error verifying credentials: The Twitter REST API v1 will soon stop functioning..."

PrplTwtr Version: 0.12.0
Operating System: Win7 Ultimate, 64-bit, SP1

My twitter feed that had been working fine for some time disconnected and 
pidgin is reporting this error:

"Error verifying credentials: The Twitter REST API v1 will soon stop 
functioning. Please migrate to API v1.1 
https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1.1/overview."

Does the way prpltwtr accesses the Twitter API need to be updated for their new 
version?  I can't find a way to get it back up.
