Couple of things...

1. is vdpau the selected video output in gnome-mplayer? It looks like it might
not be. as the vdpau codecs don't appear to be selected

2. Upgrade gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2 as it is over a year old, and there have been
improvements since then. If you use gecko-mediaplayer you'll need to upgrade it
as well

3. You mplayer is kinda old as well, might try upgrading it.

this has been fixed in gnome-mplayer svn r2088 and will be in v1.0.4 as long as
vdpau is selected as the video out in gnome-mplayer.
