Cannot open smb network files #573

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

* What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. try opening a smb network share from nautilus with gnome-mplayer
2. or open it using the file browser dialogue

* What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect the file to play but instead it does not open.

* What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I'm using Gnome 3.0.1 with Gnome-Mplayer 1.0.4 with mplayer SVN-r33996-4.6.0
and Nautilus 3.0.2. On Fedora 15.

* What does work?

Opening ~/.gvfs/PATH/TO/FILE/ON/SMB/NETWORK/my.avi from the filebrowser in
Gnome-Mplayer.

PS. THere's no obvious error when run from the command line.

Run gnome-mplayer -v and lets see what the issue is. Also there was a bug fixed
in SVN of gmtk/gnome-mplayer that will probably fix this issue as well..

Read this blog post if you want to know how to build the SVN code correctly.

I've attached my log. Though the linked patch looks like a likely culprit / fix.
