First of all, thank you for this plugin. Now that Craft 4 is about to be released, do you plan to have the plugin ready by then?

davidhellmann commented 2 years ago

Any updates here 🤔
A rough timeline would be great.

Thanks!

kringkaste commented 2 years ago

With #26 we added Craft 4 compatibility. Now that the work is done, maybe there will be something happening again?!? This would be great.

viesrood commented 2 years ago

Since not much is happening here, can we conclude that Snitch won't be available for Craft 4?

engram-design commented 2 years ago

Just to chime in, we've added this to our Craft 3 migration project, as people are keen to see this plugin on Craft 4.

If you're no longer developing this plugin, we'd be happy to continue development at Verbb (including updating to Craft 4). If you'd like to go ahead, you can transfer this repository to myself engram-design and we can take it from here.

I note there's already a PR for Craft 4 https://github.com/marionnewlevant/craft-snitch/pull/26 so just offering to take this plugin over if its no longer maintained.

geertw commented 1 year ago

Still no update from @marionnewlevant :-(, perhaps you should take this plugin over @engram-design?

engram-design commented 1 year ago

@geertw nothing yet, and I’d rather transfer the existing plugin over than make a new one - if possible. Just helps with migrating people over a little more seamlessly.

PhilReinking commented 1 year ago

@marionnewlevant any plans to go forward with this? It would be nice to have this plugin in Craft 4.

@engram-design if this repo is abandoned, are you going to recreate this plugin? Please let me know if you do :)

engram-design commented 1 year ago

@PhilReinking Potentially, yeah. As I've mentioned, I'd rather port an existing one than start from scratch (and get the author's okay about it), as it's less work getting people migrated over to a new plugin.

I do plan on doing some of the final abandoned plugins in the new year that seemingly won't ever be transferred (as per https://verbb.io/craft-3).

PhilReinking commented 1 year ago

@engram-design ok, sounds fair! And thanks for taking the effort to do this :)

@marionnewlevant Hope you're reading this thread. An update for Craft 4 would be awesome and the work already has been done here #26 Looking forward to Craft 4 compatibility

TomHell commented 1 year ago

Hi guys, is there any update available for this open issue?

engram-design commented 1 year ago

I think the only course of action here is to fork the plugin and submit that to the plugin store. Which is a pain, as it’d be nice to keep the same plugin.

@brandonkelly has mentioned it’s probably something that’ll make it into Craft core, at some point that that’d be a ways off.

I’m happy to take over the plugin for the community, but as there’s plans for it to be in Craft core, I can’t say I’ll be dedicating much time to feature development. It’s be more just ensuring things stay working.

Craft 4.5 has added similar functionality to core. See: #13420
