Boxee Navi-X 4.02 ; request support for more subtitle sites #94

Could it be possible to support for more subtile sites besides opensubtitle? I
was thinking about 2 ways to do that.

Option 1.
In the past there was support on Boxee support for periscope (that supports
multiple subtitle sites). As alternative for OpenSubtitles.org. Unfortunately
this doesn't work anymore with the latest boxee versions. But perhaps that is
something to look into for Navi-X Beta or perhaps for your own Boxee app. If
you would willing to add support for more subtitle sites.

Boxee support for periscope : http://code.google.com/p/boxee-periscope
Periscope is a subtitles searching module written in python :
http://code.google.com/p/periscope

Option 2 .
If I make subtitle scrapers. Will this be possible to use as your opensubtitle
feature on Navi-X? I made a search scraper for nlondertitels.com. And am also
interested to make a scraper for BierDopje.com. If you make support for this.

No need to make a scraper, the new navi-x app uses a modified version of the
addon 'XBMC Subtitles', they have a huge list of supported subtitle sites:
https://github.com/amet/script.xbmc.subtitles/tree/master/script.xbmc.subtitles/
resources/lib/services

I deliberately have chosen not to add any more for the moment.
1. Searching subtitles in navi-x is highly unreliable as we only have a title
and no reference to the actual source/filename etc. So you already have to
almost always manually sync the sub.
2. Adding more subtitles sites would add a more complex menu to the subtitle
dialog and this should be very simple in use.

This can be seen as a future request, but nothing of priority for now.

If you realy would like a change and work on boxee platform (windows/linux/osx)
you can download any of the above and replace the corresponding opensubtitle
file in the navi app folder (external/subtitles) with the version you like.

One can not develop any subtitle scraper for general use on the boxee platform
as boxee has removed the possibility to add integrated scripts like one can do
in xbmc

All Navi-X Remix tickets are being closed as Won't Fix because the app and
development of the app has been shelved. No further work will be put into the
app by Team Navi-X. Ticket closed.
