Recording while being docked does work, it seems like 4k is the issue. The person who originally brought up that issue and myself, we were able to record stuff with the plugin while outputting 1080p. 2k also worked for that person. It seems like only 4k triggers that crash.
Me: "It does seem to work fine for me on my FHD monitor with my Anker dock. I am on beta os and beta client btw. Ill try more testing later with stable os and stable steam."
Other person: "I think you were right to suspect the resolution! I'd left the deck to automatically set the resolution for my TV, which was 4k (very much overkill, especially considering I play most games at 1080p). Changing the resolution to 2k or 1080p both allowed the plugin to work without crashing I also tried leaving the external resolution as 2k whilst playing a game at 1080p, and that worked great with the plugin too.
I wonder, is it possible that this is related to https://github.com/marissa999/decky-recorder/issues/2#issuecomment-1445399044
I don't know why but 2k seems to not work on mine when docked. Came here looking for a fix, i am also using 4k reso previously.
I tried 2k doesn't work, sometimes crashes or just wont record.
It works no problem when resolution is set to 1080.
Docked to a 4k tv. Latest stable os.
"using the plugin (version 0.10 on Decky v2.6.1-pre2) causes SteamOS crash whilst docked to external screen in gaming mode On latest version on Stable SteamOS if that makes any difference" https://discord.com/channels/960281551428522045/1079884555386892359/1079885860985647124
I can as of now not see any reason, why the crash is happening. It feels like it should work, the resolution should not matter, and even if gstreamer has an issue, it shouldnt crash the whole deck and instead just exit? Maybe its a driver/gpu issue? I will have to debug that a bit more, somehow
