What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Build lazarus-svn (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18729&detail=1)
2. Build winff (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=17026)
3. Start winff at command line

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

--WinFF Should Start Normally-- BUT

I wonder if this has to do with what I see in the Debian build logs:

So could you please attach the build logs of Winff on Arch, so we can have a 
look and see if something is telling us that it is wrong.

Maybe you could try (as a way to identify the problem) to comment out line 122 
and 123 in unit3.pas and build again.

appling the attached patch to winff.lpi

From this logging I see that the debugging information is stripped, even if you 
enable it:

See if you can apply the patch to create debugging symbols and disable this 
stripping. The stack trace is not very useful now without them.

I see warnings that I haven't seen before, but they don't seem serious.

I still suggest you also try to comment out the lines I mentioned above. Please 
let us know if it helps.

I have auto-compiled and installed in Arch Linux the package with yaourt.

Using Arch Linux x64 running Gnome3 
I tried the AUR but wasn't able to apply the patch to  enable debug 
symbols.Since I was curious about lazarus I used it and was able to build using

When running the project in IDE after building , lazarus IDE debugging points to

467:   presetsfile.Create;                         // load the presets file     

I didn't comment the anything in unit3.pas .If you want me to, Just tell :)

It seems we have two issues here. I am going to fix one by removing line 466 
[1] in unti1.pas. You could try the same, build again. It should be easier to 
make the difference between the different issues. I still think we should test 
with the lines commented in unit3.pas.

Please try again with winff-1.4.2. In issue 153 it seems the same bug is solved 
by using 1.4.2.

Fixed by revision 625 (or revision 634).

Our releases for in the 1.4 series come from the winff-1.4 branch. I just 
merged the changes from the winff-1.4 branch back to trunk.
