The original spacewar had a starfield background that helped users to perceive motion even when the ships were moving very slowly against that background.

The original Spacewar! had a starfield background dubbed "The Expensive Planetarium". (At that time computers were expensive.) It would be cool to use the original starfields from that version. A bit of googling should dig up some links. (I found them once.. will try to find them again and post them here.)
