Elasticsearch crashes causing service requests to be blocked

I found that when the elasticsearch service was down, my .netframework website request timed out. I suspect that the connection pool could be occupied because the log could not be submitted to elasticsearch. Is it considered to write local or discard?

I don't know if the .net coreframe will have such a problem!

Application Environment：

• .net framework 4.5.1
• NLog.Targets.ElasticSearch 5.1.0
• elasticsearch 6.5.3
