A repository class structure provides an abstract method of handling "many" domain objects. The abstraction removes direct communication with the database and should improve performance where dealing with large numbers of courses and groups.

Development on this feature is currently on the branch feature_repository.

Attempted migration to mechanism - this is viable but would require a very substantial rewrite of much of the existing functionality. I'm also less convinced that this would have a significant performance increase so for now I am parking this one.
