Hi @pkese
this is very good feedback! I'm glad you've liked the soldering kit.
For the next Review I will take your suggestions in account and try to fix the most issues! About the generic_esp32.bin: I will add this in the description. This is pretty new.
About the LEDs: Yes the LEDs are very bright. I will also take this into the next review of the PCB. Different colours are more complicated and the people can be confused about where to add them. I would prefer same colour. Also yellow or red are indicating errors. Green is more friendly ;)
This is not an issue.
I just got the kit from https://shop.blinkyparts.com/en/OpenDTU-Your-evaluation-for-your-balcony-solar-system/blink237542 and would like to share some thoughts.
The kit is wonderful and easy to assemble. I especially appreciate how cool and smart the 3d printed case is.
The few nuisances I encountered were:
I misplaced the wires bonding the breakout board and OLED display, because they are not placed in the same order on both connectors. Luckily I didn't destroy anything - it worked after I reconnected the wires correctly. It would be nice if at least the silk-screen on the breakout board would provide the names for each wire as does the OLED board. Same ordering on both connectors would be even better.
The LEDs are extremely bright. I think the resistors could be a little bit bigger.
In the kit it would be nice if LEDs were of different color (e.g. one green, one yellow like the sun).
I couldn't find out which type of ESP32 chip is on the module so now I don't know if I should flash
opendtu-generic_esp32.bin
,opendtu-generic_esp32s3.bin
oropendtu-generic_esp32s3_usb.bin
.Otherwise I'm extremely happy with the board.
Feel free to close this ticket. Thanks.
