APRS Channel deviation must be set to wide to receive some packets #5

I have found that in order to receive some APRS packets the deviation must be set to wide, However the accepted norm is that APRS should be used with narrow deviation.

It's possible these packets are being wrongly transmitted with a wide deviation, however the HG-UV98 should be able to receive these packets, but only transmit with a narrow deviation.

I suspect this is about RX sound level. If I got it right, when you listen to a narrow channel in wide mode it sounds weaker, this indicate that the RX sound level is too high. Try to lower it and see if it helps.

Go to menu 08 Advanced > 06 RX level and set it to -10.5 db (assuming it is set to -9.0 db now).
