Fix the SSL TLS when using SMTP

I'm not sure what the intent here is, but simply crafting a PR merging a work-in-progress branch still requiring testing and corrections and documentation updates is not productive for anyone. This is not contributing.

Edit upon some analysis: this might be an attempt to get a free t-shirt for the Hacktoberfest?
